Casey

I’m Back

I am back home and recovering well. The surgery went fine and they let me come home around 5:30-6:00 last night. I am a little sore, but nothing I can’t handle. I am not allowed to lift more than 10 pounds which means I can’t pick up Casey. I am really sad about that. Other than that though I really am doing well. Tim can pick her up and lay her on my left side and I can lay next to her on the bed, so I still some Casey cuddle time.

I do have the WORST timing. We have so much going on right now I don’t think I could have picked a worse time to get sick. I need to be able to lift stuff so I can help pack and get ready for the move. Luckily we had already gotten a lot done. I can help load boxes, but I can’t move them or do much to help now. In addition to moving we have a ton of medical stuff going on with getting Casey in to see all of her doctors one last time before we leave town. And, of course, we have the Mexico trip next week for stem cells.

I am getting around fine by the time we leave I should be fine for the trip. I imagine if it had ruptured it would have been much worse, and I am sure I would not have been sent home that same day. This makes 4 abdominal surgeries for me now, wow. 2 out of the 4 were severe ruptures. Those surgeries were much more painful. Comparing this one to those makes this seem like nothing. I have been trying really hard to pay attention to my body. Things that I don’t feel as pain but notice them to be abnormal I am really watching closely. With Casey needing me I can’t afford any more severe surgeries. This time I really didn’t think it was serious, but I could tell something was going on. Luckily I went in and caught it before it got really bad. What a crazy mess.

Anyway, I am home, I am feeling much better, I am getting back to Casey’s appointments, packing and getting ready for the Holiday. We will post more next week after Casey’s casts come off and we make the stem cell trip.
