We took Casey to the pool for her first swim. We were not sure how she would react, but she seemed to really like it. She hates her bath until we start to wash her hair then she loves the bath. In the pool I let her float (with my support) and I bounced her up and down some. I did not submerge her head but let her see the water. The entire time she was very relaxed and even kooed some. There was a lot of other mom’s and babies in the pool too. We all hung out at the steps together. There was a little 2 year old girl named Ava that Casey made friends with. She really like Casey’s glasses. She called them baby goggles. She would come over and talk to Casey and bounce around for Casey to ride little waves. They were very cute together.
Tim’s doctors and Casey’s PTs have all told Tim that once he feels up to it that walking in a pool is a great exercise and stretch for back patients. While Casey and I hung out on the steps he walked some. He did pretty good. He walked for at least 15-20 minutes. Casey and I were in the pool for about 30 minutes.
We will have to plan more trips to the pool now that we know she likes it, and that it helps Tim’s recovery. Maybe we can make it a weekly family outing.
